Refund & Cancellation Policy

Event planning involves commitments made to vendors on your behalf well ahead of the event date. This policy explains, in plain terms, what happens if plans change.

Last updated: January 2026

1. Scope

This policy applies to event planning, coordination and production services provided by Jamar Event Planner. Where your signed agreement contains specific cancellation terms for your event, those terms apply in place of the tiers below.

2. Deposits

A booking deposit reserves your event date and covers initial consultation, scoping and planning work. Deposits are non-refundable except where we are unable to deliver the engagement for reasons within our control, in which case the deposit is returned in full.

3. Cancellation by the client

Cancellations must be sent in writing to sales@jamarevent.com. The notice date is the date we receive your written cancellation. Refund eligibility on planning fees is determined as follows:

  • More than 90 days before the event

Planning fees paid beyond the deposit are refunded in full. The booking deposit is retained, as it reserved the date and covered work already performed.

  • 60 – 90 days before the event

50% of planning fees paid beyond the deposit are refunded. Amounts already committed to vendors are subject to each vendor's own terms.

  • 30 – 59 days before the event

25% of planning fees paid beyond the deposit are refunded. Vendor deposits and non-recoverable supplier costs are not refundable.

  • Fewer than 30 days before the event

Planning fees are non-refundable, as the majority of coordination work and vendor commitments have been completed by this point.

4. Vendor and venue payments

Money paid to venues, caterers, florists, rental companies, audio visual providers, entertainers and other suppliers is governed by those suppliers’ own cancellation terms. We will request refunds on your behalf where their terms permit, but we cannot guarantee recovery of amounts already committed.

5. Postponement

Where a date change is preferred to cancellation, we will make reasonable efforts to transfer your engagement to a new date within twelve months, subject to our availability and vendor terms. One date change is accommodated without an additional planning fee; further changes may incur a rescheduling fee, quoted in writing before it is applied.

Vendors may charge their own rescheduling fees or treat a date change as a cancellation. Those costs are the client’s responsibility.

6. Cancellation by us

If we cancel an engagement for reasons within our control, all fees paid — including the deposit — are refunded in full, and we will assist in transitioning your plan to another planner where you wish.

7. Circumstances beyond control

Where an event cannot proceed due to severe weather, public health orders, government action, venue closure or similar circumstances beyond either party’s control, we will work with you to reschedule. Amounts already paid are applied to the new date where vendor terms allow. Non-recoverable supplier costs remain payable.

8. Reductions in scope

If you reduce scope after booking — for example removing a service or lowering guest numbers — we will recalculate the fee for the remaining scope. Work already completed and vendor commitments already made are not credited back.

9. How refunds are issued

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval. Bank or card processing may add additional time. We do not issue cash refunds and do not redirect refunds to a different payee.

10. Disputes and chargebacks

If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact us first at sales@jamarevent.com or (225) 620-9788. We review billing questions promptly and will correct genuine errors. Raising a chargeback before contacting us delays resolution for both parties.
